Just got back from a long (unplanned for) weekened in West Virginia!
We headed to West Virginia Friday morning and arrived there around 4pm. Swam off the bus ride and tried to get used to a pool that not many of us had been to before.
When we woke up for breakfast Saturday morning, we found out that Blacksburg was already covered in snow! Trying to put the weather behind us, we went headed to the pool to race WVU and Duqeusne.
There were some close races in a few events, but the Hokies seemed to dominate throughout the entire meet. Our depth showed to play an important role, as we went 1,2 in a few events.
In the final event, the 200 freestyle relay, both the Hokie men and women made their races exciting. The women Hokies were behind throughout the entire race, until Emily Ferguson slowly made a move on the last leg of the relay to out-touch the Mountaineers.
The men’s A relay led the entire race, as their B relay followed closely behind. The mountaineers were between the two, until Matt Baulmer anchored the B relay for the Hokies and out-touched the Mountaineers as well. Helping the Hokies go 1,2 in the final event.
With the weather only getting worse throughout Saturday afternoon, we had to spend an extra night in Morgantown, but were able to head back safely today!
Next weekend, some of the Hokies head to the Triangle Cup at UNC to compete in their championship meet. While the rest of the Hokies prepare for ACCs in a few short weeks!
