RedHawk Recap

Miami University’s head basketball coach Charlie Coles was honored before the team’s game v. Eastern Michigan University Saturday for earning the top spot for all-time MAC wins. Former Toledo head coach Bob Nichols, who held the record before Coles, was on hand to present him with the award.

Coles’ team kept the good mood going in Millett Hall with a 61-51 victory over the Eagles. Junior Nick Winbush hit double digits for his fourth-straight game with 11. Junior forward Antonio Ballard had 11 points as well as six rebounds.

The Red and White led by 17 at the half, and though EMU attempted a comeback, strong efforts by Ballard, freshman Orlando Williams and sophomore Julian Mavunga gave Miami the win.

Miami’s women’s basketball team faced another Michigan opponent this weekend. Sophomore Maggie Boyer put up a career-high 29 points, but the ‘Hawks still fell to the Central Michigan 96-86. The Chippewas went 39 for 49 in free throw shooting.

Miami’s men’s basketball team is now 8-13 on the season and 5-3 in the MAC, while the women are 5-16 overall and 3-5 in the MAC.
