With March Madness right around the corner, college basketball is really heating up.
All of the top ranked teams are battling it out every week to remain in the top ten. There is no room for a loss for any of the teams who hope to be invited to this dance.
The top 3 teams right now are Kentucky, Syracuse and then Missouri. Kentucky takes on Ole’ Miss this Saturday, and Syracuse just beat Louisville on Monday night which secured their number two spot… for the time being. Last night Missouri took on Oklahoma State, and obliterated them in an 18- point game (83-65). The game started out slow, and Oklahoma was actually in a 4- point lead from the start. It was a frustrating game to watch with so many errors and fouls. Mizzou finally got their act together after the first ten minutes of the game, and by the end of the first half they had total control. At the half, the score was 44-22, and by the second half they had it in the bag. Missouri’s lead scorer Marcus Denmon helped the Tigers gain a whopping 17 points throughout the game, followed by Ricardo Ratliffe who was not far behind with 15 points. Kim English and Phil Pressey both contributed 13 points, and Michael Dixon contributed 15 points to the scoreboard just from free throws alone. Missouri just flat-out dominated Oklahoma. Oklahoma’s standout was Keiton Page who put 23 on the board for the Cowboys, but it just wasn’t enough. In the end, the Cowboys couldn’t get past Missouri and lost the game, putting the Tigers at number three. This win was also sweet revenge for the loss earlier in the season to the Tigers; one of only two losses Missouri has on the season. Missouri will take on Texas A&M Saturday; it’ll be a great game and we will see if they can keep up the pressure to hold onto their spot.
